Application Guidelines

The Junior League of Columbus, Georgia, Inc. has established the Teens Who Care Scholarships to honor and encourage high school seniors from the Columbus area who have demonstrated a sincere desire to be of service to others through volunteer services to the community. Each year, the Junior League selects three high school seniors to receive $1,000 scholarships to be used for tuition for their college education.

All applications must be submitted by: Friday, March 22, 2019. Any applications submitted after this date will not be considered. 

The Junior League of Columbus, Georgia, Inc. is an organization of women committed to promoting volunteerism, developing the potential of women, and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable.

Who should apply:

  • Must be a high school senior (male or female) from the Columbus, Georgia area
  • Should have demonstrated a sincere desire to be of service to others; should be recognizable as having gone the extra mile to make contributions to the community as a volunteer


  • Will be accepted electronically by completing the following form
  • Each applicant must have two references submitted on their behalf: one from someone who knows you on a personal basis and one from someone who knows you from a volunteer standpoint.  You may provide your reference with the link on the previous page to complete the reference form on your behalf or they may mail their reference letters directly to the address below, postmarked by Friday, March 22, 2019:

  • Will be notified during the week of April 22, 2019.
  • Will be invited to the Junior League Membership meeting on Monday, May 13, 2019 to receive their awards.
  • Will receive a $1,000 award to be used directly toward their college tuition or education expenses as needed. Tuition payments will be made directly to the students' colleges.

Please take your time in answering the questions clearly and in detail. It is usually best to write your answer in Word first then copy and paste them into the answer blocks below. This will catch spelling or grammar errors and ensure you are meeting the minimum 300 word count requirement on questions 1 - 4.
